The United States Department of Commerce has extended the ban on export privileges for two Russian airlines, the ultra-low-cost carrier Pobeda and S7 Airlines.

The ban, which was initially implemented by the US export control regulator in June 2022 for 180 days, has been extended by a further six months, Reuters reported on December 22, 2022. This latest order will deny export privileges for Pobeda and S7 Airlines for additional 180 days.

As a result, both airlines, which are seen as violating US export control laws, are not permitted to export and re-export any products from the US. Additionally, both air carriers are prohibited from re-exporting any US-produced goods from third countries.

As per the US export control law, Russian airlines identified in the US Department of Commerce list are also restricted from receiving refueling, aircraft spare parts, maintenance, or repair services from foreign companies.
